溪深树密无人处，唯有幽花渡水香

自古观画者与画者同乐共舞，心赏神怡，观画其实也是一种创作，使你神采飞扬，随着画境、笔意走进一个人的心里、精神世界里。我们读古人画，使人飞跃百年；读今人画，可使你像打开邻人之门，看见你十分想见却不能见到的场面。
曾锦德的画，我早就注意到了。在海外大学工作时，中央美术学院姚鸣京教授就向我介绍他的作品，我非常喜欢他的画风：悠闲自得，自成一路，空灵温厚，气静骨狂，显示出这位福建出身的画家的心身历程。
曾锦德的绘画语境，是现代意识流式的表现。他有时笔调悠闲自得，自我沉醉在忧郁气氛中的灰调子特别打动我的心；有时他的色彩与笔墨交融的飞扬画面，又有一种人性张扬的意向。
打动我心田的是他的画路，一个孤独天才的心，使他的绘画划破各种格局，形成一种外静内狂的大家风貌。这是我们从他的绘画里能读到的气氛和视觉冲击。我多次想用现代绘画理念来梳理他的思路，但他是一位无畏的勇士，我们很难界定他的绘画语言。他往往朴素无华的直笔写出自己的所见所思，有时又飞跃到现代艺术领域，在现代艺术被一些人视为圣域的空间里，曾锦德的艺术却轻而易举地闯入禁地。他的人生历程是一个中国人的历程，他的绘画是中国的，也是他个性张扬的世界。
我们今天怀念他的同时，将他的艺术作品集成一册，供朋友们和艺术爱好者欣赏。研究曾锦德先生的艺术是一个工程，需要花很长时间才能完成。因此我真心希望朋友们继续努力，完成对他的研究。曾锦德先生的艺术作品的收集工作刚刚开始，他的艺术生涯还有许多不为人知的地方，希望各界人士关注。在此，我谨祝画集出版顺利。

Since ancient times, those who view paintings have shared joy with the artists, experiencing delight and inspiration. Viewing a painting is itself a form of creation, carrying you into the heart and spirit of the artist through the realm of the painting and the brushwork. Studying ancient paintings lets one leap across centuries; studying contemporary works is like opening a neighbor’s door, glimpsing scenes you longed to see but could not.
I had noticed Zeng Jinde’s works long ago. While working at a university overseas, Professor Yao Mingjing from the Central Academy of Fine Arts introduced me to his works. I was immediately attracted to his style: leisurely and self-contained, unique and ethereal, serene in mood yet wild in spirit, reflecting the inner and physical journey of this Fujian-born artist.
His artistic context embodies a modern stream-of-consciousness approach. At times, his brushwork is leisurely and self-immersed, with a gray tone of melancholy that deeply moves me. At other times, his dynamic interplay of color and ink conveys a bold, humanistic expression.
What strikes me most is his artistic path: the heart of a solitary genius allows his art to break through conventional frameworks, creating a grandeur that is externally calm yet internally passionate. This is the atmosphere and visual impact we can read from his paintings. I have tried multiple times to interpret his approach using modern painting concepts, but he is a fearless pioneer, making his artistic language hard to define. He often records what he sees and thinks with unadorned direct brushwork, yet occasionally leaps into the realm of modern art. Even in a domain regarded by some as sacred, Zeng Jinde’s art enters effortlessly. His life reflects the journey of a Chinese individual, and his art is both Chinese and a manifestation of his bold personality.
While we commemorate him today, we have compiled his works into a collection for friends and art enthusiasts to appreciate. Studying the art of Zeng Jinde is a long-term endeavor. I sincerely hope that others will continue the research. The collection of his artworks has just begun, and much of his artistic career remains unknown. I hope that people from all walks of life will pay attention. Here, I wish the publication of this art collection every success.
